River and Earth Adventures is offering a Free river day for your group of volunteers who participate in the Watagua County Big Sweep River Clean Up in September. If you want or need to perform community service, consider cleaning up the Watauga River. Who could pass up this opportunity to benefit not only their community but also themselves with an awesome river day? Not us, that’s for sure.
You can even get creative with the clean up. You aren’t limited to just walking the river; pick up trash as you kayak or tube down the river.

Participants will scour both the riverbanks and the beds in canoes, searching for garbage and items that can be reused or recycled. Trash bags and gloves will be provided for all volunteers, and prizes will be awarded to those who find the:
Most peculiar item
Largest item
Most polluting item
Most reusable item
Those who clean the longest distance will also be given a special prize. Categories will be judged by the Watauga River Conservation Partners.
