THE WATAUGA GORGE

The Watauga Gorge is the most extreme trip we offer that requires you to be at least 18 years of age, healthy, and in good shape. This one is for the athletes. If you are looking for the extreme trip that compares to nothing else, look no further. 

This trip is done in one-person inflatable kayaks and small rafts whenever the water is high enough. You may not be able to remember what you got for Christmas this year, but this is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure that you will NEVER forget. It is strongly encouraged that you go on the Wilson Creek trip before attemping the WAtauga Gorge.

Trip Itinerary

This is a world class adventure. It's an extreme river that travels over 5 miles over gorgeous mountainous wilderness and has continuous Class III, IV, and V rapids the entire way. The numerous Class IV and V rapids bear such names as Cabin, Ass Kicker (maybe we should re-name the Obama), Hydro, Up Against the Wall, The Three Sisters, Edge of the World, Dianas Ledge, Nuckles, Up Against The Wall, Tennessee The Hard Way, and Heavy Water to name a few.
